On the auspicious occasion of Earth Day 2024, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) in Goa, the epitome of hospitality excellence in the region, proudly reaffirms its unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship. Embracing this year’s theme, ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, IHCL Goa continues to epitomize its century-old legacy through its ESG+ framework, grounded in the ethos of Paathya, which champions positive transformation founded on IHCL’s pillars of trust, awareness, and joy.
In its relentless pursuit of environmental conservation, IHCL Goa has embarked on a series of strategic initiatives to phase out single-use plastics across its esteemed properties. Key among these initiatives is the substitution of plastic straws with eco-conscious alternatives such as paper and bamboo, and the replacement of plastic-wrapped bathroom amenities and room keys with sustainable counterparts. Moreover, the introduction of bottling plants signifies a paradigm shift towards sustainability, as IHCL Goa embraces reusable glass bottles filled with treated water, effectively eliminating the need for plastic water bottles.
Mr. Ranjit Phillipose, Senior Vice President – Operations, Goa for IHCL, shared his insights on this momentous occasion, stating, “The travel and tourism sector wield considerable influence in driving sustainable agendas, all while safeguarding local communities, ecosystems, and cultural heritage. At IHCL Goa, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering responsible tourism practices, perpetually striving to pioneer industry-leading benchmarks for our state. Our holistic approach to combatting plastic pollution underscores our harmonious coexistence with nature, benefiting not only our esteemed guests but also our valued employees, partners, and the communities we serve.”
